I would encourage any vet who’s feeling discouraged, wants a change, likes innovation or fancies trying something they’ve never previously considered, to cast a thought to being a poultry vet.”Kenny Nutting BVetMed MRCVS
The opportunity to work in Molecare Farm Vets and practice under the guide and expertise of St David’s is unique. Being able to see how a successful poultry practice has evolved over time to adapt to the industry and client needs offers an insight into how we can keep ahead of the curve in ruminant practice as the farming landscape changes. The technology projects in the business further reflect this, and show a level of entrepreneurial flare and engagement with the future of agriculture which I’m excited to be a part of.”Andy Adler BVM&S MBA PGCertVE MRCVS
I am proud to be part of a sector that actively aims to reduce the need for antimicrobial treatment through improvement of the birds’ intestinal integrity, immune competence and innate ability to withstand disease challenges. I enjoy the continuous progress within the sector and the possibilities for further development in a variety of interesting areas.”Dr. Dana Simpson DVM MRCVS
The PrognostiX solution is one of the first applications of IoT within agriculture where information is automatically collected by cost effective and wireless sensors and can be used to monitor animal health and farm efficiency. With increasing pressure within agriculture to reduce antibiotic usage it has become obvious to our veterinary business that we need to understand what factors are causing any disease on a farm. Furthermore, it is very important to use that information to predict and prevent disease and to really understand performance challenges to facilitate this reduction.”Alan Beynon BVM&S MRCVS
Being part of the St David’s/Molecare group means we are an independent practice, and I like the freedom we gain from this for two reasons. Firstly, whilst protocol is important to maintain consistency and standards, it gives me the clinical freedom to make treatment decisions that are best for the animal and client. Secondly, I like the freedom as a practice principle. Over the last 4 years my role has developed from assistant vet to manager. I am trusted to develop the business and I feel grateful to be working in a business that listens to our visions and has time for us as individuals.”Alexia Mills BVSc MRCVS
The facilities that we have here at St David’s make it a very unique place to be. With full surgical theatre facilities, as well as the perfect environment for rehabilitation and post-surgery treatment and care, we are able to offer our clients an excellent service all under one roof. Working at Nutwell we also have the added benefits of being close to the coast, country and city, which makes it a fantastic location for leisure activities too.”Robert Hanson BSc (Hons) BVM&S MRCVS
The Chicken Vet is a great online resource for many smallholders and poultry enthusiasts who may need expert advice or care products for their birds. It provides information and guidance in all areas of poultry management and disease. In addition and aside from the commercial poultry work, we run professional training courses throughout the year to veterinary surgeons in general practice. This provides a great opportunity for us to share our specialist knowledge from the work we do in the commercial sector and guide vets to becoming an associated practice and more confidence in treating back yard poultry.”Ben South BSC (Hons) BVetMed MRCVS
The poultry industry has great respect for vets and understands the importance of our support. The industry is leading the way in livestock production, welfare and antibiotic reduction and it’s an exciting time to be part of it. Working at St David’s I enjoy the opportunity to challenge my peers and bring forward new ideas into the team directly to the owners. Working within a private practice gives me the opportunity to progress in my career and gain potential new responsibility within practice.”Ben South BSC (Hons) BVetMed MRCVS
